Kelda is a noble of the land of Nifelar. Like all nobles of her country, she's a necromancer, and is a powerful one, at that.

Kelda is a bit spoiled, but she's absolutely adamant about repaying her debts, and considers herself, as a noble, to have various obligations to the lower classes.

She also has a temper, though, and it's backed by serious necromantic power, so watch out!

Kelda is wandering the world looking for things to do, confident that she doesn't have any responsibilities at home-- her older brother, Lord Melanchthon, is the heir, and there aren't any plans to marry her to anyone for political gain.

She is completely unaware of how fast these things can change...

Mrph. o-o

So, should we add necromancy to the list of jobs? I tried to keep away from it because of how limited / difficult it would be. o-o;

Well, it's up to you-- it could be reserved for NPCs, for one thing.

The way I see it, Necromancy doesn't have to actually have any really different effects than generic blow-things-up wizardry. It can just be a set of special effects-- instead of shooting fireballs, Kelda might shoot skulls. Instead of a lightning bolt striking an enemy, skeletal arms might grab them. Things like that.

You can do a lot with changing graphics and descriptions without ever needing to mess with mechanics, after all.

Normally, Whenever I would play a game with a necromancer (Diablo for one example) The class whould ahve the ability to summon stuff.

It's pretty common, true... I'll bet I can come up with some way to do something in the way of a summons that won't be too hard to deal with.

It'll probably be a power that's called a "Summons" rather than putting another character on the battlefield, though. Much, much easier to script.

I just don't like the idea of the good guy summoning the dead and throwing skulls at peoples... >3>

Maybe it's reserved for bad people. =D

Just like in WoW (shamans are only for the Horde, as Paliden's are for the Alliance)

Why be limited, though? Diablo 2 had good guy necromancers, after all, and Voodoo, among other religions, has a tradition of asking for help from the dead...

On the other hand, she doesn't have to be in the party, if you think it'd clash too much.

Ahhh... honestly, I think it could work, but if we give the possibility of there being that necromancer in the party, we'd have to give the possibility of being one as well.

Iunno... we could. I just think skulls are ewwie because, well, I have a vagina. Okay!? >O

Sure, let's add it to the list. We'll put it as a third under 'Blue Mage' along with summoner.

Now, now. There are any number of penis-equipped people who find skulls ookie.

Blame my college adviser. He got me a job in the college natural history museum, and I spent my first day cleaning a fresh deer skeleton.

We won't get into my wife, or her Vampire LARPer friends, however, which kinda cast doubts on the genitalia relative to skulls theory...

Whoops! We'd best watch ourselves-- I don't want to get in trouble for corrupting a minor.

One point I would like to bring up is that again this is an NPC, so the NPC jobs don't have to even match the PC jobs. The NPC's don't have to be shoe horned into PC roles. As such there is no reason why their can't be an NPC necromancer without having to add a Necromancer job to the job list. A Necromancer is just a specialist wizard anyway.

This of course opens up a whole listing of NPC/monsters of human Necromancers that players may go against. This means that scripting is a minamal addition in that the necromancer only needs to be able to call skeletons, which is more than likely a built in function.
