If anyone can sketch a few maps for say towns, the world map, etc. I would love them forever! =O

We need to at least get the maps down before we can start creating things such as buildings. We can name towns later after we get them drawn.

We should at least have one town per element, such as, one desert town, one icy wonderland town, one forest, and at least one grass land (But since grass is so common, I'm sure there'll be plenty of these. xP)

As maps are drawn up and sketched, me and Mike shall start planning sprites for each town, tree, PARTICLE... and such. xD

In XP, the RTP has tilesets for these... do they exist for VX?

If course they do. But they don't have corners. Or ramps. Which I am selfish about and want, dammit! >O

And for buildings, they don't have everything. They usually have really crappy one... >.>;

At least, I don't like them.

...or somebody who forgot to log in, anyway.

Well, VX tilesets can be found with a little googling and poking around, at least.

Yes, but I'd still want to edit them. I and in now way happy with their block style. Plus, I can't make proper ramps... ._. *Whimper.*

Ramps are clearly important for you. Uh, do you mean vertical or horizontal? Horizontal is the tricky one, here, but a vertical ramp (One that faces the player) is pretty easy. It's just the version that requires diagonal movement that's a problem.

First, I need to know what time period everything is in. Midevil, Present, Anchient Rome, BC, Futuristic, or a fusion between two or more other timelines?

Since there are guns, it's at least above cowboy. Though, I want it to seem midevil in some areas, or look like the United Kingdom (Because face it, the United Kingdom does look fricken old in a new sense... vintage...?)

I want it to look old, but yet be 'new' or 'present' in some senses, such as weaponry and clothing and suches.

Isn't there a game already like that... Uh, i dunno... World Of Warcraft maybe with the Gnomes that engineer machines and The dwarven hunters and there guns... But with there ANCIENT ruines old demons and mages?

lol, just pointing out that thats been done before.

I played WoW once and quit after two hours. I really didn't like it. So, no. Not like WoW as I have not been ENGROSED enough in it to notice those stupid things.

So to me, yes, it is original. I have not played many games that are midevil yet present day. Ragnarok seemed completely present yet fantasy based because of the look of the architecture, AND the fact that is had the present day version of Jolly Old Saint Nick; yes, Santa Claus.

Trickster Online was COMPLETELY present day. It had beaches with towels, umbrellas, hot babes... to works. xD

Corum I did not play enough of to really notice...

And... that's it for MMOs... xD

I suspect that we're going to wind up shooting for "Generic vague RPG" setting in terms of outfits and things, but if I had to pick one where we could squeeze everything in, it'd be Italian Renaissance, actually. You've got halberds, fencers, alchemists, gunners, priests, and psycho inventors all in one go.

The alternative that I can best see would be something like the Yuan, Ming, or Manchu dynasties in China, where they've had gunpowder, guns, rockets, cannons, poison gas, and flamethrowers for far, far longer than Europe.

I'm not too sure how you guys want to world to be modeled as. I'd like it to be present day in a sense because of the people whom will be playing the game. We can not have everyone speaking in old English as (not only can I not type it) but people would find it hard to understand.

So in a sense, it will be future-esk while in another sense it will be old.

Hey, that's a point-- it's literally a game within a game, so we don't need any justification for anything that we want to do with it.

Handy excuse, that. Ninjas and gunners and archers? Why not?
